James Ensel Spence, a fireman in Pensacola, Florida, was born to Joseph and Francis Spence probably in Walton County, Florida. James Ensel and his young family lived on DeLeon street close to the waterfront. He died September 1906 of typhoid fever. This was just days before the 1906 Hurricane that hit Pensacola. His wife, Ruby Elizabeth Bonifay, was eight months pregnant with this third daughter, Ensell Jeannette, at the time.
It is possible that James Ensel's father was the son of Insel Spence from Georgia. At this point though, I am not sure of this.
