Passes Away Surrounded by Many Loving Friends and Relatives Estimable Lady
Dies at the Age of 84 Years.
Closing her eyes in death as peacefully as an infant falls to sleep, Mrs.
Emanuela Bonifay Quina, wife of the late Constantine F. Quina, died at her
home on East Romana Street at 11:30 o'clock last night after an illness fraught
by old age, the lovable lady being 82 years old.
Mrs. Quina was of Spanish-French descent, being a native of Pensacola, where
she spent her entire life-time and was reverently known to practically every
resident of long standing in this city.
She is survived by seven sons and daughters, as follows: Mrs. Joseph Quina,
Mrs. Richard Swaine, Mrs. Arthur Johnson, Mrs. John Christie and Messrs. George
J., Emanuel I. and Francis Quina. She is also survived by forty grandchildren
and four great grandchildren.
The funeral will occur Sunday, but the hour has not yet been announced.

Funeral Rites Are Set for Friday
Emanuel Ignatius Quina, 85, retired L & N Employe and partner Ajax Finance
company, died Wednesday in Pensacola Hospital.
Mr. Quina was a lifelong resident of Pensacola, a member of St. Michael's
church, the Holy Name society and Knights of Columbus.
He retired from the L & N 20 years ago after serving 44 years in the freight
department, since which time he has been connected with his son in business.
Surviving are two sons, Ignatius C. Quina of Pensacola and Julius D. Quina
of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. John H. Christie of New York; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Fisher-Pou chapel with
Monsignor Cusick officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Levy, F. M. Turner, Sr., Benton Gilmore,
Osgood Anson, Sr., Oscar Kuester and Francis Commyns; actives, Gerald Quina,
James Christie, Otis Robinson, Tom Johnson, Gregory Quina and Edo Swaine.
The family requests flowers be omitted.
Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery.
The Knights of Columbus, of which Mr. Quina was a charter member, will meet
in Fisher-Pou chapel at 7 p.m. Thursday to say the rosary.
Since the rules of the Catholic church do not permit funeral services in the
church during Holy week, a requiem high mass will be sung in St. Michael's
church at 9.30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, to which friends of Mr. Quina are invited.

Gerald G. Quina, 90, of 1412 E. Strong St, died Wednesday morning at a nursing
home.
Mr. Quina was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola, a member of St.
Michael's Catholic Church. He was a retired employee of the L&N Railroad,
a veteran of World War I and a former Director of the Little Theater.
Survivors include five cousins, Ignatius C. Quina and Julius D. Quina, both
of Pensacola, Sister Mary Thomasine of Mobile, James P. Christi of Fernandina
Beach and Theresa Ormsbee of California.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Msg. Denis Gray 10 a.m. Friday in St.
Michael's Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery with Fisher Pou Funeral Service
directing.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Johnson, Dave Johnson, H. C. Sarra, Preston Husted,
James M. Navata and R. D. Cole.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
The rosary will be recited after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fisher-Pou chapel.

300 W. Lloyd St., died Monday afternoon.
Other than her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Peyton, Marshall,
and Allen Quina, and a sister, Betsy Quina, all of Pensacola; her grandmother,
Mrs. M. E. Quina of Pensacola; and her grandfather, Robert Whitehead of Thomasville,
Ala.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Robert Marshall Quina died Sunday afternoon in a local hospital.
Mr. Quina was a native of Pensacola, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Marion
Ernest Quina and a descendant of one of the oldest families in Pensacola.
He was educated at Suwannee Military Academy, University of North Carolina
and John Hopkins University. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church,
the Historic Society and the Pensacola Country Club.
Survivors include: his wife, May Whitehead Quina of Pensacola; three sons,
Peyton Ernest Quina of Jacksonville, Robert Marshall Quina Jr., of Bristol,
Va., Allen Whitehead Quina of Pensacola; a daughter, Betsy Quina Reif of Houston,
Texas; a brother, Clarence Reid Quina of Pensacola; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m Wednesday in St. Michael's Catholic
Church with the Rev. Fr. Richard Bowles officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in
charge of arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society
or the American Lung Association.
Active pallbearers will be: Hill Turner, Jack Williams, Reid Quina, Fred Turner,
Lee Turtle and Richard Soderlind.

Robert S. Quina, 73, lifelong resident of Pensacola and a member of one of
the Pensacola's oldest families, died Sunday night in Sacred Heart Hospital.
Mr. Quina owned and operated the M. A. Quina Lumber Co., was a Spanish-American
War veteran and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a charter
member of the Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie H. Quina, a son, Robert Quina Jr., both
of Pensacola; four sisters, Mrs. Bernie Whiting of Berkley, Calif., Mrs. J.
D. Carroll, Mrs. Alice Rotureau and Miss Annie Quina, all of Pensacola and
two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in Fisher-Pou Chapel and
at 9 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Funeral services for Robert S. Quina, 73 year old owner of the M. A. Quina

Floyd J. Quirk, 66, of 3107 N. H. St. died Wednesday afternoon at a local
convalescent home.
He was a native of Washington, La., and had been a resident of Pensacola for
the past 34 years. He was formerly employed as a radio dispatcher.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas C. Quirk Jr., of Warrington; a sister,
Mrs. Ben Hymel, of Port Lavaco, Tex., and a nephew, William C. Quirk, of Pensacola.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at graveside at the Barrancas
National Cemetery with Fr. Joseph Ryan officiating.
Pallbearers will be service personnel.

Patrea "Pat" P. Quirk, 86, of Pensacola died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993, in a local
hospital.
Mrs. Quirk was a native of Pensacola and had resided here most of her life.
Her memberships included Navy Mothers, of which she was a past president;
the Navy Wives Club; the Krafty Homemakers Woodman of the World; and was a
36 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Unit No. 22.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, William C. and Glenna Quirk of
Pensacola and Raymond Lee and Mae Quirk of Norfolk, Va. brothers, Richard
E. Herrington of Molino, Lee Herrington and Raymond Herrington, both of Pensacola;
seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas C. Quirk, Jr., 82 , of Pensacola, died Saturday in Tuskegee VA Hospital.
Mr. Quirk was a native of Washington, La., but had resided in Pensacola for
most of his life.
Mr. Quirk was retired from the U. S. Navy, having served for 34 years, was
a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and the Fleet Reserve
Association, Branch 22, the AARP and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
Mr. Quirk was survived by his wife, Patrea P. Quirk of Pensacola; two sons,
William C. Quirk of Pensacola, and Raymond L. Quirk of Norfolk, Va.; a sister,
Stella Hymel of Houma, La.; two grandsons, five granddaughters and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at a time to be announced by the Oak Lawn Funeral
Home.

Jessie Bonifay Quiroga, 80, of 84 Church St., Bagdad died Monday afternoon
at a local hospital.
Mrs. Quiroga was a native of Bagdad and a member of the Bagdad Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, W. O. Amos of Bagdad; a daughter-in-law, Betty Amos
of Bagdad, a stepson, Van Quiroga of Seattle, Washington and a sister, Doris
Dempsey Bissett of Tampa.
Funeral services for Mrs. Quiroga will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the Chapel
of Lewis Funeral Home with Minister Sam Hastings and Minister Joe Maher officiating.
Burial will be at the Bagdad Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing.

Ventura Quiroga, 85, of Bagdad, died late Saturday at his residence after
a long illness. Mr. Quiroga was born in Madrid, Spain but had lived in Pensacola
for about 50 years. He had been a resident of Bagdad for the past 11 years.
He was a member of the St. Rosa of Lima Catholic Church in Bagdad.
Survivors include the widow, Jessie Quiroga of Bagdad; a step-son, W. O. Amos
of Bagdad; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Thomas of Pensacola; a son Van Quiroga of
Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Dominique Benevida of Madrid, Spain.
The body will remain in the Wolfe-Lewis Funeral Home Chapel until time of
funeral services which will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Rosa of Lima Catholic
Church with the Rev. Fr. James Gillian officiating with burial in Bagdad Cemetery.
