Abe Daniels is Taken by Death. Retired L& N Man Dies at Hospital.

Abe Daniels, 86, retired L. and N. railroad employee, died Wednesday afternoon at the Pensacola Hospital.

He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Almer and Mrs. R. O. Gilmore of Pensacola; two sons, J. E. Daniels of Pensacola, and Lawrence D. Daniels of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Mrs. R. G. Sanger of New York city, N. Y.; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Escambia Lodge No. 15 F. and A. (something must be missing)

Mr. Daniels was a member of M. and Damon Lodge No. 13 K. of P., being a member of both lodges for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Fisher-Pou chapel with Rabbi Leonard Mervis officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic and Pythias lodges. Active; Gam B. Golay, W. W. Day, L. L. Borras, Paul Gonzalez, Holland Bobe, Clarence Brown, O. M. Kuester and J. H. Merrill.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with Masonic services at the grave.

Mrs. Clara Rocheblave Daniels, 87, of 1704 E. Lee St., died Wednesday, morning in a local hospital.

Mrs. Daniels was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a charter member of the Pensacola Womans Club and the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs, Catholic Daughters of America and the Pensacola Historical Society.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. E. G. (Juliana) Fairfax of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sons, Julius E. Daniels, Jr. and Dr. Richard E. Daniels, both of Pensacola; a sister, Mrs. W. W. Day Sr. of Pensacola and 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Raymond Mullins reciting Mass.

The Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday in Fisher-Pou Chapel.

Friends will be received noon Thursday in Fisher-Pou Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas C. Day, Kenneth Rocheblave, B. J. Nicholson, Albert Golay, Marion Almer, Ed Lintz, and Stephen Preston.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Edward Daniels, Julius E. Daniels III, Robert J. Preston, Arthur Christopher Shearman, Alan B. Fields and Richard Eugene Daniels.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with Fisher-Pou Funeral Service directing.

Dr. Richard E. Daniels, Sr., 57, at 8050 North 9th Ave. died November 1, 1985.

Dr. Daniels was a native and life long resident of Pensacola.

Survivors include two sons, Julius E. Daniels, II and Richard E. Daniels, Jr.; a daughter, Eve Daniels Marrs; a sister, Juliana Fairfax; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Private services for Dr. Daniels have been held.

Fisher-Pou Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davidson was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County.

Survivors include her cousin, Mrs. Don Tinsley, and many friends from the Woman's Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Harper-Morris Chapel with Dr. Alton Butler officiating.

Private interment will be in Whitmire Cemetery with Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel directing.



Davis, Frank Commyns

Pensacola Journal, Thurs., Oct 4, 1917 - Remains Late F. C. Davis Interred.

Remains of the late Frank C. Davis, 65 years of age, who expired Tuesday, were interred yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, in St. John's cemetery, to which point a large number of lifelong friends followed. Deceased was survived by his wife, two sons, Ralph of Pensacola, Charles of Jackson, Mich., and adopted daughter, Mrs. Claud Kearney, of Pensacola.

For many years deceased had been in the employ of the L & N Railroad, and as token of esteem employees sent a large floral design and attended in a body. The pall bearers were H. A. Smith, John G. Welsh, Capt. Frank Boghich, Ed. Abercrombie, Charles Stewart and John W. Walters, Funeral service was impressively conducted by Rev. Herbert W. Rice, pastor of the Gadsden Street Methodist Church.

Miss Davenport was a lifelong resident of Warrington and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Warrington.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Gay and Miss Hilda Davenport, both of Warrington.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Fisher Pou Chapel and 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Thomas Loringan saying mass.

The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fisher - Pou Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Capt. Norman E. Knapp, Al Lahale, A. E. Foster, Vince Bruno, Russell Scaritt and Joseph Frosio Sr.

Miss Florence Davenport, 64, of 418 Pou Station Road, Warrington, died Friday night at a local hospital.

Miss Davenport lived in Pensacola all her life and was a retired civil service employe at the Naval Air Station. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Warrington.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Davenport, Mrs. Thelma Gay and Miss Ullainee Davenport, all of Pensacola; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fisher-Pou Funeral Service.

Funeral services for Miss Florence Davenport, 66, of 418 Pou Station Rd., Warrington, who died Friday at a local hospital, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in Fisher Pou Chapel with mass being said in St. John's Catholic Church in Warrington. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Fisher-Pou in charge of arrangements. The rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. in Fisher Pou Chapel.

Capt. Davenport Irving Day, 76, of 416 Bay Blvd., died Sunday in a local hospital.

Capt. Day was a native of Davenport, Iowa, and had resided in Pensacola for the past 15 years. He attended and played football of the University of Iowa, served as an officer in the Coast Guard during WWII, he was a motel manager in Point Cedar, Ala., a manager of Florida Theater until he retired and was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his widow Maude Gillis Day of Pensacola.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Barrancas National Cemetery with a naval chaplain officiating.

Burial will be with full military honors.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the Heart Association.

Hilda Davenport, 93, of Warrington died Thursday morning in a local hospital.

Miss Davenport was lifelong resident of Escambia County and was a member of the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society of the church.

Miss Davenport is survived by a sister, Mrs. Thelma D. Gay of Pensacola; three grandchildren, Ginger Wilson of Warrington, Diane Davenport of Pasadena, Calif., and Paula Davenport of North Carolina; six great grandchildren; a great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be at the St. John Catholic Church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. with Monsignor James Gallagher Officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Gay, Russell Scarritt, Jr., John Gay, Timmy Shanihan, Bobby Temple and Phillip Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Bond, Russell Scarritt, Sr., John Wilson, Pat Sammon, Al Lahaie and Dr. William Nass.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. John Catholic School.

He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ruth Westmark of Pensacola; a son, David Davenport serving with the army in France; a daughter, Katherine of Tampa; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Malvina Johnston of Pensacola; a brother Oscar Davenport of Pascagoula, Miss.; and two half-brothers, R. C. Wight, Miami, and Russell Wight of Pensacola.

Funeral arrangements will be announced.

He was born in Pensacola and had moved to Mary Esther in 1960. He was a Real Estate salesman and a retired Capt. of the Adjutant Generals Office, U. S. Army and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fort Walton Beach.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Pensacola with McLaughlin Mortuary directing.

Mary Aline Rocheblave Day, 83, died Tuesday morning at a nursing home.

Mrs. Day, a life long resident of Pensacola was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was founder and charter member of the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs and a charter member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club circle. She was the wife of the late W. W. Day.

Survivors include two sons, Woodward W. Day, Jr. and Thomas E. Day; three daughters, Aline D. Bowersox, Dorothy D. Grimmell, both of Pensacola and Helen D. Jackson of Lakeland, three daughters-in-law, Ellen Day and Fay Day, both of Pensacola and Janice Day of Mary Esther; three sons-in-law, H. L. Grimmell and W. C. Bowersox, both of Pensacola, and William L. Jackson, Jr. of Lakeland; 25 grandchildren; and 22 great grand-children.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Waters and Hibbert chapel and burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Lou Day, 61, 210 S. Cahn St. died in a local hospital Monday morning. She was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

She is survived by he widower; Davenport I. Day, Pensacola; a sister, Mrs. T. C. Bowes, Pensacola, her father, F. E. Herrington, Pensacola; three brothers; Hope Herrington, Thomas Herrington, Mack Herrington, all of Pensacola; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the Cancer Fund.

The Rosary will be said at the chapel of Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Tuesday night and funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Waters & Hibbert with Mass at 10:15 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery.

Woodward W. Day, Jr. of Pensacola died friday afternoon at his home. Mr. Day was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 366.

Surviving are two sons, Woodward W. Day III of Fairhope, Ala., and John B. Day of Clearwater; three daughters, Jeanine Kruegar and Shirley Baer, both of Pensacola, and Ellen Garrett of Decatur, Ala.; three sisters, Aline Bowersox and Dorothy Grimmell, both of Pensacola, and Helen Jackson of Lakeland; one brother, Tom Day of Warrington; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Victor Scutz officiating. Mr. Day will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday of the Harper Morris chapel.

Pallbearers will be Don Bowersox, Ted Thorsen, Art Thorsen, Farrell Thorsen, Paul Winchester and Wilfred Schrader.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Woodward W. Day, Sr., 80, recognized as one of the founders of Warrington, died Friday night at a local hospital.

He lived with his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Day, at 1912 Escambia Ave.

He was a native of Escambia County and was a retired real estate broker. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors other than the widow include three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Bowersox and Mrs. H. L. Grimmell, both of Pensacola and Mrs. W. L. Jackson of Lakeland; two sons, w. w. Day, Jr. and Thomas E. Day of Pensacola; 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Herbert A. Miller officiating.

The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be B. J. Nickelsen, Dr. R. E. Daniels, Kenneth Rocheblave, Monroe Campbell, I. C. Quina, and A. A. Merbler.

Funeral Mass for Filamen E. de la Rua, 85, a former resident of Pensacola who died Monday morning in San Antonio, Tex., will be at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Michael's Catholic Church of Pensacola.

The body will arrive in Pensacola Thursday morning.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Waters & Hibbert Chapel.

Members of the Knights of Columbus will be pallbearers.

Mr. de la Rua, who resided in Pensacola for 30 years, had been a resident of San Antonio for the last three years.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and was a native of Greenville, Ala.

He is survived by a cousin, Miss Emmie Sowell of San Antonio, Tex.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home directing.

After a long and painful illness of some years duration, the deceased sunk at length into the arms of death, surrounded by her numerous friends and relations, whose tears attest at once her virtues and their irreparable loss.

Maximo P. di Rioboo, one of Pensacola's oldest native born citizens is dead. He fell peacefully to sleep and all that was mortal of him was laid to rest this morning, the funeral taking place from St. Joseph's church at 10 o'clock, the ceremonies being conducted by Rev. Father Fullerton, who preached an eloquent funeral sermon.

Judge di Rioboo was born in Pensacola in 1822. He was the last of his name, his living children being all married daughters. Mrs. John Rupert, Mrs. Wm. Farinas of this city and Mrs. A. A. Calhoun of Houston, Texas.

His four grandsons, J. G. Rupert, J. C. Rupert, F. C. Rupert and Charles Farinas, acted as pallbearers.

Judge di Rioboo was a justice of the peace here about 55 years ago, succeeding Judge Wm. Crupper. He was the first United States circuit clerk, serving under Judge McIntosh, and he was United States commissioner up to 1861. He was United States shipping commissioner for sixteen years and served until a short time before his death, when he was succeeded by Mr. W. W. Potter. Judge di Rioboo had been in the service of the United States in some capacity continuously since he was 19 years of age.

Bagdad Bulletin. Mr. Jack Dean died at his residence, near Florida Town, last Sunday. The deceased was an old and very much respected citizen, and had reached the allotted age of three score and ten years. He was buried Monday morning at 10 o'clock.

He was a Merchant Marine.

D. Donaldson, both of Pensacola; sister Mrs. Mollie Butts of San Diego, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in McNeil Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Bryan, of the Gadsden Street Methodist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers will be Frank Bonifay, Joe Sanders, Charley Donaldson, Dickie Douglas, Ray Deal and Ben Johnson.

Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery, Gull Point with McNeil Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. William Donaldson died of Spanish influenza at the home of Motorcycle Officer Donaldson, 1505 (W.?) LaRua street yesterday morning. The death of her young daughter, 11 years of age, followed in the afternoon. The husband and father, Motorcycle Officer Donaldson is very ill himself at the family residence.

The remains are held at the Pou Undertaking parlors pending funeral arrangements.

Warren Kenneth Donaldson, 76,of Pensacola, died Wednesday, May 10, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Donaldson was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola. He attended Pace Assembly of God Church. Mr. Donaldson was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Donaldson and Macon Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Donaldson; son Donnie Donaldson; three step sons Bobby Martin, Steve Martin, and Buddy Martin; four step daughters, Arin Domen, Linda Lasco, LaRheasa Martin and Peggy Froeber, 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Servant Donaldson; and sister Molly Butts.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Glyn Lowery officiating.

Burial will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Donaldson, William Thomas

Police Captain W. T. Donaldson Taken by Death. Member of Local Department for 21 years.

Capt. William Thomas Donaldson, 58, veteran member of the Pensacola police department, died Tuesday afternoon at Pensacola hospital after a long illness.

Captain Donaldson had been a member of the police force for the past 21 years. He joined the department October 13, 1922 and served continuously in various capacities since. He was formerly employed by the L & N railroad, and when a young man worked in the timber industry.

During his service with the police department Captain Donaldson served as patrolman, motorcycle officer, plainclothesman and captain. He assisted in the apprehension of some of the South's most notorious criminals and helped to "break" numerous crimes.

As the time of his death Captain Donaldson was serving as one of three ranking officers of the department, having been elevated to captain by the civil service board, along with F. D. Hall at the death of Assistant Chief A. O. Godwin, which rank was abolished late last year.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bell M. Donaldson; six sons, Willie, Warren, Survan, and Edward, all of Pensacola, James, U. S. Army and William Thomas, U. S. Army in Italy; one daughter, Mrs. John H. McAbee; his mother, Mrs. Mollie Donaldson; two sisters, Mrs. Zack Douglas and Mrs. Lula Sanders; one brother, Dave, and 12 grandchildren, all of Pensacola.

Donaldson Rites Are Planned Today - Funeral services for Capt. William Thomas Donaldson, 58 member of the police department, who died Tuesday afternoon at the Pensacola hospital, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from his home, 1506 East Baars street, with the Rev. Carlton Preer of the Gadsden Street Methodist church officiating.

Active pallbearers will be E. A. Lawhon, Mallory Tennant, Raymond Shuttleworth, J. C. Barron, Grover Lott and J. C. Hammond, all members of the police department.

Honorary pallbearers will be all other members of the police department.

Burial will be in Roberts cemetery at Gull Point with Fisher-Pou directing.

Mr. Willie Daffin Donaldson, 66, of 3165 Newton Dr., died Sunday night in Pensacola.

He was a retired supervisor of the Southern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and Sons of the Confederacy. He formulated the erection of the Mariana Bonifay Memorial of which he was one of the descendants.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dovie Deal Donaldson, of Pensacola; two daughters, Betty Cubellis of Orlando and Kathryn Caro of Austin, Tex.; one brothers, Warren Donaldson of Pensacola; one sister, Mrs. Molly Butts of Long Beach, Calif.; two grand-daughters, Betty Davis and Brenda Hopper, both of Orlando and three great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Green officiating.

Burial will be in the Bayview Memorial Park cemetery with the Faith Chapel Funeral Home directing. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

William Elvin Donaway, Jr., 55, of 2021 W. Intendencia St., died Friday night.

He was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a former employe at the Pensacola Naval Air Station.

Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Clara Reid and Mrs. Carolyn McCrory, a son, Robert Edward Donaway, as sister, Mrs. Virgie E. Marchetti and eight grandchildren, all of Pensacola.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fisher-Pou Chapel with Elder Robert Wakeman and Elder Bruce Jones officiating.

William E. Donaway, 59, died Thursday morning at his home, 523 North "P" street.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Amanda E. Donaway, three children, E. C. and W. E. Jr., and one daughter, Mrs. Mark B. Marchetti; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of Pensacola.

Mr. Donaway had been connected with the lumber business of Pensacola for the past 30 years.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mark B. Marchetti, 521 North P street, with Rev. W. F. Daniel of the Frazier Memorial Methodist church officiating.

Albert James Douglas, 67, of 1631 Woodchuck Ave., died Friday at his home.

Mr. Douglas was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola. He was a former civilian employee of the Pensacola Naval Air Station and a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 366.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Mae Douglas of Pensacola, a daughter, Linda Morgan of Pace, six sons, Dale Douglas of Liverpool, England, Zack Douglas of Bagdad, Oliver Douglas, Larry Douglas, Willard Douglas and Charles Douglas, all of Pensacola; a brother, David Z. William Lambert Doyle, 59, of 213 Barrancas Ave. Warrington, died Thursday, afternoon at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Mr. Doyle, born in old Warrington, was a retired Civil Service employee at the Naval Air Station and a veteran of World War I who serviced in the U. S. Navy.

Surviving are his father, W. J. Doyle, his stepmother, Mrs. Florence Doyle; three sisters, Mrs. John Coogan, Mrs. Alice Paupp and Mrs. Edith Edwards; and two brothers Merlin and Francis Doyle all of Warrington.

Funeral services will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday from Fisher-Pou Chapel and at 9 o'clock at St. Johns Catholic Church in Warrington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. A. M. Ames, Ambrose Alvarez, Jasper Alvarez, Bernard Riley, Paul Bonner, Jack Hirta and Julian Gloyer; actives, Clem Sweeney, Robert D'Lague, George Oldmixon, John McLarney, George Fell and Hubert Bonifay.

Mrs. Allie Lindsay Duck, 80, of Tampa, Fla., died Wednesday morning in Tampa.

Mrs. Duck was a native of Pensacola and had resided in Tampa for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church and the Alter Society.

Survivors include a son, Eldridge C. Duck, Jr., of Tampa; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Catholic Church.
